STAPLES SKI TEAM

Due to the delayed schedules throughout the state and many schools’ altered exam schedules, today’s race is being postponed. 

Teams are set, temps are falling and the first race of the season is set for Wednesday (1/17) 👏🏻

Races begin at 4:40pm and parents are welcome to come cheer! You can see the race from the bottom of the hill. Girls race the red & green courses, Boys the blue and yellow. If you can’t make it to the mountain, you can follow results on the live timing website.

All information about the league can be found on the CT Interscholastic Ski League Site. This includes weekly race results and schedule.

All races are held at Mount Southington.

Thanks for coming out yesterday for the captains’ pop-up pizza party. Good luck to everyone this afternoon!

The Captains would like to invite everyone to a little pizza party in the cafeteria after school tomorrow (1/9), for a quick bite to fuel up for midterms and wish everyone good luck at time trials on Wednesday! Stop by for a slice- 3:00-3:30.

The weather has not been in our favor and Southington will not be able to set up gates this week. We are shifting our plans to the following based on the current weather patterns:

MONDAY JANUARY 8th will be a practice night IN GATES. We are awaiting confirmation on times, but expect the bus to leave Staples at 3pm and return around 7:45 pm.

WEDNESDAY JANUARY 10th we will hold TIME TRIALS. We are waiting for confirmation on times at will post as we hear.

Please be sure that *ALL RACERS* complete the registration form that was posted in the team GOOGLE CLASSROOM by 3 pm on January 3rd. We need to have a head count for transportation AND lift tickets.

FINGERS CROSSED that the cold temps will stay!

Racer forms are due today. Students have access to all forms on Google Classroom. Check in with your racer to make sure they have completed.

Rainy weather has pushed back the season. Target date for time trials is now 1/3/24 ⛷

Hope everyone enjoyed a wonderful Thanksgiving. Before you pack your Cyber Monday cart, check out this year’s Ski Team Logowear on the ASF site. Orders placed by tonight (11/26) will be delivered by team at the end of December.

Thank you to our Captains and Coaches for tonight’s meeting. It was great to see such a big group!

A few reminders:

*Captains’ Practices have started and meet right after school M-TH in the pool lobby. Please let a Captain (Sydney Feldman, Alannah Morris, Maddie Stevenson, Jake Coykendall, Ollie Howard or Logan Manchester) know if you can’t make it.

*Official Dryland with Coaches will begin on 11/27 and will run after school until 4:30/45. Come dressed to train outside—jackets, hats and sneakers!

*On snow tryout date (time trials) will be communicated as soon as possible. The hope is to have it and announce the team before the winter/holiday break.

*Staples races in the Connecticut Interscholastic Ski League (CISL). Their website has a lot of info if you want to check it out and for advanced planning, they’ve set the Class L races for ( 1/10, 1/17, 1/24, 1/31 and 2/7) Obviously those dates are weather dependent.
