Due to conditions, we will be pushing back our planned time trials to Thursday, January 6th. The bus will leave from Staples at 3:15. As offered last year, racers can ride to the hill with a parent, just please let Becca know in advance. Additionally, a seating chart form will be sent out on Wednesday.

If any racer is experiencing symptoms and is concerned about not making tryouts, please reach out to Becca via email.

We’re keeping the ASF Ski Team Store open a few days longer! Get your orders in by Sunday 12/19. Consider the fundraiser T-Shirt—supports the team & looks great!

GET YOUR SKI TEAM SWAG! The ASF Store will close tomorrow (Friday 12/17) night. We’ll have a second store opening after teams are posted.

With Father Winter taking an extended break before arriving in our area, Southington is looking to open on December 26th. With that in mind, we will be pushing back our dates as a league and as a team to accommodate. We are looking to schedule time trials the first week of January and possibly have an afternoon of gate practice as well, but please check back for updates as nothing has been decided yet.

Also, racers and parents will need to complete the following Google Form that indicates understanding the team policies and procedures for the season. Please have this completed by 12/23.

Please review the posted calendar for the team. As noted, our dates are scheduled to change based upon weather.

Additionally, please be sure to complete this seasons forms by December 3rd.

2021/2022 Calendar

While the snow has not yet started in our area, we are more than eager for the season to start. With that in mind please know that we are planning on having our Informational Meeting Thursday, November 18th at 8 pm virtually. Registration for the meeting will close on Wednesday, November 17th at noon.

Dryland practice will kick off on November 29th and will run from 3-4 pm. Racers please look out for information from our captains regarding captains’ practices.

The weather is getting colder and ski season is right around the corner. Please don’t forget to register with Staples Athletics (information below). Our KICK-OFF meeting date will be announced soon. Winter sports registration is open.  Now is the time to check to make sure you have a valid physical, see below for details.

• November 28th will be the last day to register for boys ski and girls ski.

Please abide by this timeline, late registrants are not guaranteed the opportunity to register after the deadline.  
Tryout/practice schedules will be posted and updated on a continuing basis at http://staplesathletics.com/.

Registration requirements:

• A completed registration will result in receiving 6 emails indicating you have agreed to the Code of Conduct, Concussion Education Agreement, Sudden Cardiac Arrest Agreement, Emergency Information Form, Mandatory Covid Waiver Agreement and emergency information.

• Be sure to include parent and student email addresses in your registration as teams are using this information to communicate with teams.

 Physical Examination Requirements:

• In consultation with the Connecticut State Medical Society, Sports Medicine Committee, the standard of physicals being valid for a 13-month period prior to the start of the season will remain.  If you do not have a physical you will not be permitted to participate.      
   
• Completed physical examination forms must be on file in the School Health Office,attached to your registration or emailed to sskutnik@westportps.org. 

It was a great celebration for our racers last night! Thanks to all who contributed to make the evening a success.

Congratulations to our Block S award winners (Hayley Buckman, Charlie Howard, Isabelle Gerrard & Dakota Stuart), our scholar athletes ( Sophie Mulhern & Nate Kolek) and next year’s captains (Teagan Church, Emmy Marcus, Kate Smith, Jasper Cahn, Charlie Howard & Ryan Stevenson). You have big shoes to fill, but we know you’re ready!

Best of luck to our 2021 SENIORS  and to our 2020 seniors who made guest appearances, we loved seeing you!

We’ve been following the weather closely. We are still hopeful the storms will pass before we begin tonight. If we need to move inside, please be prepared to follow school guidelines. Everyone will need to wear a mask when not eating. Thank you for your cooperation. We’re looking forward to a terrific evening whatever the weather has in store for us!

We’re looking forward to tomorrow’s ski team banquet. 6:00-8:00pm at Staples in the courtyard adjacent to the cafeteria (accessible from the parking lot by the baseball field). We are aware that there is a chance of passing rain, but will hold the banquet outdoors. Please be prepared with a mask in your pocket in case we need to step inside the building briefly.

If you are a 2021 senior, please bring your BIG HEAD tomorrow night! We want to use them for decorations.
